Stations of the Cross - Day 002

I had an amazing day today working with pupils at St Marys Catholic School in Batley, making a start on 14 paintings depicting the 'Stations of the Cross'. The year 5 pupils are working collaboratively on a series of large scale paintings using a  cardboard ground, acrylic paints and posca pens. The painting are being made with a limited pallet of monochrome paints. I am encouraging the pupils to experiment with mark-making, painting with rollers, sponges, stencils, impasto paint and thin watery washes.

A few process images appear below. More tomorrow following day 003.
